Local Interest

"Belmont Shore businesses including Shore Books were featured in the November issue of Westway magazine."

For many people, Belmont Shore is essentially a residential neighborhood, a cozy section of coastal Long Beach where old-timers coexist with young families and college students. It certainly isn't your typical shopping area. But the nexus of the Shore, Second Street, provides some of the best shopping in the city. The mix of locally owned businesses and chain stores, side-by-side with the local post office, hardware store, and library, make the 13-block stretch appealing to most everyone. A vast array of restaurants, sandwiched between the shops, offer sustenance and sometimes even entertainment.

If you're in the spirit of the season, visit after Thanksgiving, when Second Street gets dressed up with twinkling white lights, or plan a trip to coincide with the 25th annual Christmas parade, set for December 1.

One more thing: Much of the parking in the area is metered daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Savvy shoppers know to bring plenty of quarters. Shop

If you're in the market for designer women's shoes, stop first at Herman's, a 44-year-old family-owned shoe store staffed by Herman; his wife, Ellen; his daughter, Bernice; and his son, Larry. 4924 E. Second Street; (562) 438-3514.

In many ways, success at networking is the uncommon application of common knowledge. Most people understand that networking is important to their success, they just lack a step-by-step process to get the results they want. Almost no one really implements a comprehensive methodology that will build a business through networking. Thus, the need to network is "common knowledge," and the development of the methodology required to be successful at it is the "uncommon application." By reading this book, you will experience the true essence and meaning of networking. The 29% Solution gives you the answers to two conflicting questions that a business owner or salesperson faces every day: How can I tend to my existing clients while at the same time network for new business? and, Should I place higher value on my current clients or on new clients?
